The Romanian Virtual Area Control Centre (ROvACC) is part of the Europe Division (VATEUD) within the Europe Region (VATEUR) of the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation (VATSIM) organisation. VATSIM was founded in 2001 by a group of people who wanted to create an organisation that met the needs of the flight simulation and online air traffic control community. These people were very successful and are named the Founders of VATSIM. VATSIM is a complex organisation with many people helping to ensure VATSIM runs all day, every year of the day for FREE! VATSIM is completely FREE to all its’ members. VATSIM provides servers and software developed by many talented people, to allow people to fly or control online. Controllers use one of three different radar clients (ASRC, VRC and Euroscope) to control pilots flying online using Microsoft Flight Simulator or X-Plane. VATSIM is controlled by a Board of Governor’s (BOG) who are made up of a wide variety of people all covering different aspects of the community. VATSIM is split into 7 different regions and then in some regions, split into divisions. ROvACC is part of the Europe Region which is made up of 3 divisions – Europe (covers everything not in the other divisions), UK and Russia. The Europe Division is split into Area Control Centres (ACC’s) as done in real life of which ROvACC is one of many vACC’s. ROvACC provides training for controllers and hopefully in the future will provide a pilot training program. There is also an extensive procedures section including charts. The vACC organises events within Romania and with other vACC’s and with Virtual Airlines.
